Description

Short technical description: Field measurement of the residual bearing capacity of a flexible or rigid pavement or a road base (static measurement, generally repeated every 50 or 100 m). The device consists of a trailer which is stopped at the location of the measurement. The passage of a vehicle axle is simulated by placing a metal disc on the substrate to be tested and dropping a heavy weight on it while damping the impact with a rubber interface. Nine sensors in the vicinity of the impact zone record the temporary deflection of the substrate with an precision of 0.001 mm. Operational procedure: COST 336. Unique features: http://www.brrc.be Construction date: 2005
