Short technical description: Field measurement of the skid resistance of road pavements (standard speeds: 50 or 80 km/h): sideway force coefficient, SFC. Skid resistance is defined as the friction developed in the tyre-pavement contact area that resists sliding. The measurement is made with a standardized smooth tyre yawed to a angle of 20°, which is caused to skid on a wet pavement.
