The FEHRL Collaborative Research Project Forever Open Road is featured in an article in the May 2019 issue of World Highways magazine. . In the article Corridor for prosperity: the 5G Road, FEHRL Deputy Secretary-General, Adewole Adesiyun highlights the Forever Open Road studies stating: “there will likely be three iterations of a fifth generation road: the adaptable road, the automated road and the resilient road”. (all three publications are available for download) . Speaking at the European Road Conference, in Dubrovnik (Croatia), on 22-24 October 2018, Dr Adesiyun also mentioned: “the fifth-generation road is about to provide the world’s highway authorities with a big leap forward.” (…) “Change will come, because the world’s road authorities are coping with critical but ageing assets that require a significant rise in the maintenance spent” (…) “the highway sector needs to bring back a positive attitude towards transport infrastructure and the secrets of success are sustainable innovation and implementation” (…). .
