Australian Road Safety Committee meet with FEHRL on infrastructure and motorcycle safety

The Road Safety Committee of the Parliament of Victoria, Australia visited Brussels as part of their current work, which includes an Inquiry into Motorcycle Safety.

 

FEMA organised the meeting together with FEHRL and the European Commisison. FEHRL was represented by Kris Redant of BRRC.                                                                                                                                                                                                                            

The meeting was very constructive and included discussions on and obviously well prepared. Several topics were briefly discussed
* how to integrate the interests of PTW in transport policies
* how to motivate riders to use appropriate clothing
* training and licensing of riders
* ITS - compulsory or voluntary installation of tracking equipment
* infrastructure - integration of PTW into the RSI/RSA directive - P4S
* infrastructure - surface characteristics / guard rails / forgiving aspect
* role of standards
