Effective use of Weigh-in Motion Data: FHWA review of Dutch system

The U.S. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Office of International Programs has released a case study that explores the Netherlands weigh-in-motion (WIM) data management system that it uses to support a broad array of vehicle weight regulation and enforcement activities, as well as long-term planning and decision-making.

According to the FHWA, the system, which Dutch officials describe as "a better way of doing business," has potential for application in states that want to expand their use of WIM data.

Our Dutch colleagues who work on this system are among the leaders of the new FEHRL FiWi project on the standardisation of such systems
